Portrait Sessions/What to Expect

What to expect during your photography session?
On-Location in Madison Wisconsin, or surrounding area, or in-studio in Evansville Wisconsin.

Newborn Photography Sessions: 3 days old-2 weeks

Newborn Photography will generally take two or more hours depending on the baby and will take place in ModelUNO Photography's studio in Evansville Wisconsin. The newborn session can also take place in your home in the Madison or surrounding Wisconsin area if that is where you feel most comfortable. Most of the pictures I will take will be of the baby naked but I encourage you to bring any special hats, blankets, or outfits that you would like to incorporate into the session. This session is generally just "baby" but we will often get a few pictures of the parent(s) or other siblings with the newborn providing the baby is cooperative and we have gotten most of the other shots. Prior to the session, I will ask you to put the baby in a, easy to remove, sleeper. Try to not feed the baby a full feeding until the session. Here is an example of the perfect pre-session routine: Ex: session is at 10:00AM. At 7:00 or 7:30 give baby a full feeding, play for about 30 min and then lay down for a nap. Aim to get to studio at 9:30. At 9:30, arrive at studio and play for a bit. Undress baby and give baby a full feeding at 10:00 so that baby is ready to go for the session.

If the baby is over 2 weeks old, the sessions will usually take a little bit longer because the baby is less likely to cooperate.

3 Mo-12 mo Baby Photography Sessions

Baby Photography portrait sessions will typically last 1 hour. We will do a mix of pictures in The Evansville Wisconsin studio from naked to a few outfit changes. We will use a few props (feel free to bring any additional ones in you may want to use). For the Brithday baby, I encourage you to bring in a cake of some sort. This makes for great memories! Colorful hats and clothing brings character to the images.

Child Photography - 1 year through teen

Child photography doesn't have to be a sit and pose shoot. I encourage the parents to bring a mix out outfits, props, and possibly go outside to the Evansville Wisconsin Park, Lake Leota, depending on the child's age and how cooperative they are.

High School Senior Photography Session

High School Senior Photography starts with a minimum of 1 hour and unlimited clothing/location changes. I will feed off of the senior and be as creative as allowed. Senior sessions are usually outside on-location in Madison, Evansville, or Janesville Wisconsin, but we will often take a more "professional" looking picture at the studio in Evansville Wisconsin as well. I will suggest that the High School Senior bring many outfit options and any props that have a special meaning to them. The Senior and photographer will then go through the outfits, talk about location options, and choose the appropriate attire. Yearbook requirement information from your school is important to know prior to the session and should be given to the photographer at the time of the session.

Family Portrait Sessions

The number one question I am asked before a Family Portrait Session is, "What colors should we wear?" Color looks great in pictures! Coordinating the colors vs matchy matchy looks better. When booking, choose a time that is everyone's "happy" time. For example, if you have young children, an earlier session is better than a 6:00pm time. Please have everyone ready for pictures when I arrive and that will help speed up the picture taking process. Depending on the weather, we may choose a location outdoors in Evansville Wisconsin or another location in the Madison or surrounding area. During the winter months we will use the Evansville Wisconsin studio where we have lots of background and prop options.

Maternity Photography Sessions

Pregnancy is a beautiful time in a woman's life with the miraculous changes her body undergoes. It is my goal as a photographer to caputure the beauty of your belly and create an environment where you feel comfortable with your body. Clothing staples include a black sports bra or black and white tank top. You can also bring, if you have it, a white or black button down blouse, black work out shorts, jeans and maternity top, etc. Feel free to incorportate things you enjoy doing into the shoot, like if you are an avid cyclist...bring a bicycle helmet, foot ball player...a football, etc. We can be creative with those items during the shoot. Other props you can bring include, and are not limited to, flowers, balloons (blue for boy or pink for girl), blocks that spell out the name of the baby, ultrasound pictures, etc. The maternity shoot is a chance for you to record the beautiful gift from God that is inside you so feel free to embrance your beautiful, BIG, belly! As the photographer, I will respect your privacy requests or your requests to embrance your pregnancy body as an art piece too. Husbands and children are encouraged to be a part of the maternity shoot as well.
